About NorthEast Education Initiatives
"See a Need, Fill a Need"
At NorthEast Education Initiatives, we believe every child deserves an equitable, emotionally safe, and empowering education. Our organization was founded on a simple principle: when we see a need, we act.
By standing beside families, educators, and communities, we work to bridge the gaps that too often leave students without the recognition, access, or support they deserve. Our commitment is to see a need, fill a need — and never leave a family without a path forward.

Our Mission
Our mission is to ensure that all students, especially those with unique learning or developmental needs, receive the resources and opportunities necessary to succeed. We provide advocacy, guidance, and community connection to help families navigate the education system with clarity and confidence.
NorthEast Education Initiatives is a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit organization working toward recognition as a 501(c)(3) public charity. We are starting by serving families in Pennsylvania and intentionally building a model we can expand across the Northeast in the coming years. We are family-centered by design: we walk with families over time, using a case-management model rather than one-time advice.
Through compassion, knowledge, and action, we empower families to speak up, collaborate with schools, and secure an inclusive and meaningful education for every child.
We’re building NEEI the way we wish support had looked for our own kids: small, family-centered, and careful with trust. That means being thoughtful about how we handle your story, your child’s safety, and any resources entrusted to us, so our care for families shows up in how we operate too.
Our Values
Compassion
We listen first, honor lived experience, and respond with empathy.
Equity
Every student deserves a fair, safe, and supported path to success, especially those facing disability, trauma, racism, or poverty.
Collaboration
Families, educators, clinicians, and community partners make the most progress when they work together.
Integrity
We lead with transparency and accountability in all we do, guided by strong governance, child-protection, privacy, and financial policies.
Action
We don’t just see the need — we fill it, turning concern into concrete support for families.

Our Story
NorthEast Education Initiatives began with one purpose:
to stand with families who felt unheard in the education process. Our journey started as parents ourselves — navigating the complex world of special education for our daughter, Alora, who was diagnosed with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) at age two.
Like many families, we faced countless challenges trying to understand the system, advocate for the right supports, and ensure our child received the education she deserved. We know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to fight for recognition, accommodations, and understanding. We founded NorthEast Education Initiatives so that no family has to face that struggle alone.
What began as our personal journey of advocacy has grown into a regional effort focused on empowering others. Through compassion, guidance, and targeted initiatives like our V.I.B.E. (Visual Impairment & Blind Education) Initiative—which grew out of our original CVI advocacy work—and our P.A.T.H. Initiative for Special Education & Family Navigation, we’re helping families find their voice and turning shared experience into collective change.
As our work grew, another deeply personal story shaped our mission — that of our older daughter, Ilsa. Her experience revealed how schools can struggle to keep children emotionally safe and how easily families can feel isolated when a child experiences trauma. It reminded us that true educational equity means more than access; it means fairness, trust, and healing.
From that realization, the S.A.F.E. Initiative — Student Advocacy for Fair Education — was born. SAFE was created to ensure that no child faces fear, bullying, or neglect without trusted support. It’s our way of turning pain into purpose, helping students and families rebuild safety through fairness, advocacy, and connection, so that every child can be seen, heard, and safe.

Together, We Make Education Better
At NorthEast Education Initiatives, we believe advocacy begins with community. Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, student, or partner organization, you have a role to play in helping every child thrive.
When we share stories, knowledge, and resources, we make it easier for families to be heard and for schools to respond with care.
Join us as we build a brighter, more inclusive future — one student, one family, and one initiative at a time.
